Position Overview:

An independent Pre-K through Grade 8 school in Marblehead is seeking a Part-Time Accounting & Data Entry Assistant to support the Finance and IT teams during a system conversion and preparation for the new school year. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience who enjoys data entry, organization, and learning new systems, and who is comfortable working onsite in a collaborative, small-team environment. The position will start onsite Monday through Thursday and may become hybrid once training is complete and responsibilities are well established.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry & Accounting Support
  • Perform high-volume data entry related to accounting and system conversion tasks
  • Support general ledger cleanup and validation during accounting system transition
  • Assist with setting up student billing and online bill-pay records
  • Enter, reconcile, and verify financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Support reporting and basic financial tracking as needed
  • IT & School-Year Readiness Support
  • Assist the IT team with setting up Chromebooks and related technology for the upcoming school year
  • Help organize and validate user and system data tied to new technology deployments
  • General Support
  • Maintain organized records and documentation
  • Assist the Finance team with administrative and system-related tasks as needed
  • Learn and navigate school accounting and student information systems

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with spreadsheets
  • Basic understanding of accounting concepts (GL, billing, reporting)
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Experience with Veracross or Blackbaud is a strong plus, but not required
  • Comfortable working part-time with flexible hours
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive, eager-to-learn attitude
